Trussed us

Friday, April 25
I had the day off work (yea!), so I took Otto out to my parents' for some cat-chasing. On the way, we stopped by the money pit to check on progress. The framers were hard at work, so I got a chance to take a few pictures in-process.
Around 8 AM...
Later that afternoon... Major progress.
They expect to be finished with the framing about a week from now. Exciting, but that also means that we've got to finalize almost all of our selections before then!
Minor panic setting in...

Otto was still pretty tired from chasing the cats.

Framing, cont.

Tuesday, April 22 -- Most of the main level was framed when we arrived. Also, in response to popular demand, Otto's featured in several more pictures today.

View from the street --- suddenly, we have a house! Well, getting closer, anyway.

Otto's checking out the front entryway.YUM! A 2x4!

View from the living room.
One of my favorite parts --- walk-in pantry!

Breakfast nook, connected to the kitchen.

Nature.
Anyone know how to keep geese out of your yard? Otto ran some laps. In the nature. Happy Otto.

Otto kept running up and down the stairs, checking us out from above.

He was pretty excited to be off his leash.

Decked

Monday, April 21
We took a picnic dinner to the pit and enjoyed sitting at the edge of our future living room. It was a beautiful evening... the high winds from last week had disappated. Apparantly, a lot of fishermen had the same idea. We've heard it's a great place for crappie and bass, so maybe we'll have to invest in fishing gear. As long as I don't have to touch any worms. Or gut a fish.

Look, STAIRS!

Rejoist!

We arrived to find a sea of floor joists - and an I-beam - Saturday afternoon.

You can see the I-beam on the left. It stretches across the middle section of the basement.

In particular, guys seem to be pretty impressed that there's an I-beam. Yea, I-beam!

In the basement, we can walk through the rooms. Granted, we have to duck under or hurdle over all the supports, but it's walking nonetheless.

Norb and Sandy, here's the view from your bedroom. Hope you like it.

(That's Tom and me waving. Paula's hiding off to the side.)

We've been framed

April 16: Framing begins, but I only got 2 pictures before my battery died. We're pretty excited, but it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so who knows when it'll be finished.
Darn spring weather. Scott's admiring his beloved garage.

We have a basement

April 15 --- The weather has finally been dry enough for the cement crew to get to our place. With the help of 50 mph wind and a 70 degree day, the cement was bone dry by 5 PM.

Coming soon: Framing Scott's favorite part... the garages.
